Among the many ambitious goals that the Group has achieved in 2024 and will continue to work on in 2025, the most remarkable are reduction of emissions and valorization of its carbon footprint.

Quick Group, a global leader in the production and supply of complex systems and pre- and after-sales services for yachts and superyachts, presented its sustainability program and its targets for 2025 at METSTRADE 2024.  The Group’s ambitious program, which focuses on reducing the environmental impact of products developed in-house, continues to evolve with an emphasis on environmental decoupling-particularly absolute decoupling, which occurs when economic growth continues but fossil fuel consumption and emissions decrease.

Since 2024, Quick Group, together with the new brands that joined the Group about a year ago, has begun a rigorous process of integration to achieve Quick’s established standards. The initial priority was to align production and documentary standards, as this action has the most immediate effect on the quality perceived by customers. The second phase, currently under development and with concrete results expected in 2025, involves complete adoption of the Group’s quality system and inclusion and sustainability practices. Quick Spa has supported these values and issues for years and intends to embed them in all the Group’s new locations, consolidating them as the distinctive pillars and the founding values of its identity.

The Group pursued a number of concrete goals in 2024, also included in its sustainability program for 2025, starting with carbon emission reductions and plans for large-scale investment in renewable energy (such as solar panels), but also including consolidation of its commitment to ensuring maximum transparency in the supply chain. The Group is increasingly obtaining the active participation of all its business partners, with the goal of achieving high standards of sustainability along the entire supply chain. The Group is collaborating with suppliers and partners to promote more responsible business processes, encouraging several suppliers to adopt sustainable practices and certification in their own supply chains. This vision extends beyond the company’s boundaries, requiring partners to become the leading actors in processes of change. In this way, the Group acts as a catalyst for a positive impact all along the value chain, adopting innovative solutions and encouraging sustainable behavior among its customers as well.

There are also plans to implement vertical production methodologies and extend the measurement of the carbon footprint to other, different product ranges, assessing their life cycle to quantify their environmental impact, while also extending ISO certification to all the Group’s production companies. Fundamental actions that will continue in 2025 are adoption of strategies promoting inclusion and equal opportunities in the workplace, and strengthening the company’s circular economy in a process is aimed at promoting efficient use of resources and reduction of waste, with a focus on reuse, recycling and recovery of materials. This translates into the adoption of sustainable packaging and other initiatives.

Emissions reduction and carbon footprint valorization

The Group is actively taking action against climate change and adopting a number of measures promoting decarbonization of the energy system and maximizing energy efficiency in production. It does so by setting measurable targets for the reduction of its own emissions and those of its entire supply chain, for example by certifying some of its most strategic products based on the amount of energy used.

The Group expects its overall emissions to fall in 2025 (a trend Quick Spa began with a 12.5% decrease in emissions over the previous year in 2023, followed by a 6% decrease in 2024). Furthermore, it also aims to transition to electricity that is 100% generated from renewable sources with GO (Guarantee of Origin) certificates. In pursuit of its commitment to maximizing energy efficiency in production, the Group is undertaking ambitious initiatives such as moving the production headquarters of the Sanguineti brand to Casarza Ligure. This new site is designed to optimize energy consumption, reduce emissions and adopt sustainable solutions.

The importance of the quality system

The goal for 2025 is to obtain an increasingly high-level quality system by extending ISO 9001 certification-currently held by Quick Spa- to all the Group’s production companies, also extending ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certifications by 2026. Implementation of these certifications implies the adoption of a series of policies, processes and procedures permitting identification, monitoring and management of the impact of the company’s activities on the environment.

At the same time, the Group is proceeding with ongoing development of its production companies and the entire supply chain, working to obtain certifications in line with ISO 14064 for production companies and ISO 14067 for certain product categories. The aim is to align with international standards and ensure environmental sustainability at all stages in the production process.

The goal for 2025 is to extend ISO 9001 certification to all Group companies and start them along the same path as the parent company, so that complete homogenization is achieved, and the various companies will be aligned by the end of 2026.”

In line with its commitment to diversity and inclusion, the Group recorded a balanced gender composition in 2024 and set itself the goal of further improving inclusivity within the organization by promoting equal opportunities at all organizational levels. To this end, it recently approved a new inclusion policy, reinforcing the guidelines that have always guaranteed a discrimination-free work environment in which everyone is treated equally.

Nemo develops core products such as portlights and hatches and has recently launched the first pantograph door with an active compressed-air seal. Sanguineti, with more than five decades of heritage and artisanal quality has been a benchmark for the superyacht market, with
entirely Italian and tailor-made production of hydraulic and electric motion systems, including gangways, ladders and platforms. All products are fully custom-designed depending on the owner’s or shipyard’s needs.

“The products from Sanguineti, Xenta and Nemo differ from the rest of the Quick Group portfolio, as they are based on the principle of customized production,” confirms Marco Santoro, Managing Director of Quick USA. “This makes them highly relevant in the yacht and superyacht market – especially Sanguineti, which is 99 percent tailor-made. The inclusion of these brands in Quick USA’s portfolio certainly expands the offering to a larger dimensional segment.”

“Furthermore” adds Santoro, “it’s hard to find comparable products in the US market, as the quality offered by Sanguineti and Nemo has no equals in the region. Tailored Solutions for US Buyers

The three brands are also tailoring solutions specific to the US buyer: “Nemo is investing in adapting some of its best-selling product lines to the American market,” Santoro explains. “Sanguineti is already synonymous in Europe with highly customized, high-quality products that encapsulate the essence of design and endurance. Xenta is working on a specific product for the sportfisher segment, enabling American boat owners to maneuver their boats along their ideal route, going forward and backward at both low and high speeds, in any wind and wave conditions.”

Strategic Growth Opportunities

The official launch of Xenta, Nemo and Sanguineti in the US marks another major milestone in the strategic development of Quick Group, adding another suite of products and solutions as well as expanding and coalescing a holistic approach to the development, supply and service of marine equipment to OEMs, shipyards and owners.

The two key products being launched include the automatic Airlock pantograph door with inflatable airlock under the Nemo brand and the all-new Riviera series of capstans and windlasses under the Sanguineti brand – both engineered to meet the exacting demands of superyacht builders and owners.

Nemo Airlock Pantograph Door

Quick Group’s latest addition to the Nemo range of pantograph doors is a cutting-edge solution that combines advanced technology, attractive design, and superior functionality, marking a first for the yacht sector. Designed for side-access openings, the new pantograph door uses a simple push-button control panel for easy opening and closing, with the addition of an automatic inflatable airlock seal to ensure watertightness. It is powered by a 24V DC supply.

The door design is fully customizable, meaning not only can it be tailored to the specific size and shape requirements of the yacht, but can also be finished to match the boat in color and trim – and even in the color of the seal itself.

The door is designed to withstand the most challenging conditions, ensuring the seal – which is maintained at a constant pressure – is never compromised and safety on board is always assured. An emergency handle can be specified to ensure manual operation with the door’s design enabling it to be opened or closed by all members of the crew, and the seal can also be inflated manually in case of power failure. Using an airlock door confers other benefits too, reducing the need for maintenance on supports or levers as a perfect seal is always guaranteed, and mitigating heat or cooling transfer thus increasing the boat’s energy efficiency.

“This complements the range of manual and semi-automatic pantograph doors already available in the Nemo range, but this is the first time we have made a fully automatic pantograph door with inflatable seal,” says Lorenzo Cesari, Quick Group Head of Sales for Superyacht Division. “In fact, although some heavy-duty applications for things like stern doors exist, this is a first in the industry for a pantograph side door.”

For Cesari, the advantages are clear for superyacht builders and customers, particularly for GRP yachts. “GRP is alive to some extent – the hull and the superstructure can move over time, which can lead to gaps between the superstructure and the door,” he explains. “With the inflatable seal, you can prevent water ingress even if the hull has suffered a lot of movement as the seal expands to perfectly fill the gap.”

Quick Group started the airlock door project in January 2024 shortly after the Group’s acquisition of Nemo. “We decided to develop this not only because we have the inhouse expertise and the engineering and manufacturing capabilities to develop it, but also because it’s a great opportunity to bring a new product to the superyacht industry where the customer demands much higher quality and a much higher level of features,” says Cesari. “These are aspects that we are perfectly placed to meet – indeed, 90% of the Nemo range is custom made for our customers to match their specific requirements for size and finish.”

Sanguineti’s Riviera Series of windlasses and capstans

Sanguineti has long had an association with the superyacht sector as a supplier of retractable capstans, and Quick Group is looking to build on that six-decade heritage with a brand-new range of windlasses and capstans designed for all operational parameters and developed for yachts up to 70 meters LOA.

The new range combines all the key facets that mark Quick Group products: innovation, quality, premium materials, refined design and advanced technology. All models in the Riviera range feature AISI 316 stainless steel bases, along with reducers with excellent anti-corrosive properties that ensure lightness and strength. Each model features optimized drum design for better grip as well as offering a modern and elegant aesthetic suitable for any yacht deck.

The Riviera windlass range features power options from 3.5kW to 15kW and supports chain sizes from 12mm to 26mm. The series includes vertical windlasses available with or without drums, and each model is equipped with an integrated sensor and magnet for the chain counter.

The Riviera capstan range has been developed for yachts from 20 to 70 meters LOA, complementing the historic Sanguineti range and ensuring reliable solutions even in the most challenging conditions. Ease of use and reduced maintenance are guaranteed thanks to intuitive design and durable components. The range can also be customized to meet customer shipyard needs, including choices of color and configuration.

“Sanguineti has 65 years of heritage and has been a leading manufacturer of windlasses for decades, and many of its products are still operational on yachts 40 years on,” says Cesari. “We have drawn on this strong background and combined it with the expertise of the Quick Group – each of our facilities has an expert technical office as well as CNC machines – to launch the Riviera windlass and capstan range with updated designs and all-new features, from the chain stopper to the drum to the remote controls. XENTA, international leader in the development and production of integrated control systems for yachts and superyachts, announces the achievement of the 4,500 installations so far made on a kaleidoscope of boats of all sizes, types and shapes.

The unit that boasts the finish line is the Baglietto C10236 construction or “Rush”, a beautiful motoryacht of the Fast series designed in toto by Francesco Paszkowski, who for the interior has made use of the collaboration of Margherita Casprini.

Dropped into the water in May and presented at the 2022 Cannes Yachting Festival, Rush is 42 meters long and it is entirely made of aluminum with semi-planing hull.

In its engine room, two of the three MTU 16V 2000 M96 L engines installed, the external ones, are coupled to traditional shaft-line transmission systems, while the central third one discharges its power into the water through a waterjet system. And it is mainly thanks to the thrust of the booster, a VOITH linear jet, that this tonnage Baglietto 399 GT reaches 28 maximum speed.

For Baglietto Rush the shipowner chose:

The achievement is important, significant for the company in numerical terms, but above all able to emphasize how XENTA technology is perfectly capable of marrying any naval project, even that of a 42-meter hull with mixed propulsion systems, 28 knots maximum speed and the needs of a heterogeneous clientele, aware that choosing the XENTA systems buys the best for themselves and for their boat.

Anyway XENTA does not stop looking ahead, however, and it is constantly investing in research and development with the aim of introducing further innovation in yachting. This is confirmed by the new systems X-AID and X-SELF, brought to debut this year by participating in September at the main boat shows that marked the beginning of the 2023 nautical year. 

The X-AID (XENTA – Adaptive Integrated Docking) is an adaptive system, which is able to self-adapt to the surrounding environment, effectively eliminating any possible external interference, such as wind and current. In this way, the maneuvers become more fluid, without the need of continuous corrections by those who are steering the boat. The system is also able to intervene on the boat headway, thus facilitating its stop.

X-SELF, the XENTA Autonomous Mooring System, is able to bring a boat in and out of its berth, in an automated and safe way. XENTA X-SELF allows the captain to relax without having to intervene, except for small adjustments. X-AID and X-SELF, like all other XENTA products, can be requested on many of the new boats produced by leading international shipyards as well as on many of the yachts already sailing.

X-I² – XENTA Integrated Intelligence is the central unit responsible for the operation of XENTA systems, ensuring their total integration with each other and with the on-board instrumentation of each boat.

Continuous research and development activity has always characterized XENTA.  This direction has led us from being a leader in the design and manufacture of integrated steering and trim systems, suitable for all types of boats – to the creation of yet another innovative product, capable of making a difference in the control of a yacht. It’s called X-AID (XENTA – Adaptive Integrated Docking) and is available in combination with the XENTA Joystick, the X-DOCK.

The true innovation of the X-AID System is its ability to be adaptive. X-i2, the Central Computer Unit is responsible for the operation of the XENTA System. This, coupled with a sophisticated inertial platform – estimates the position, speed, acceleration and orientation of the boat without the need for external references.  The highly refined management software, acquires information in real time and estimates the outside forces generated by wind and current that may affect its desired vector in maneuver. The artificial intelligence X-i2 that governs X-AID, autonomously adapts the system to them, and adjusts any possible interference from them. In addition to this outstanding capability, X-AID’s powerful algorithm operates on the boat’s fresh way, making it easier to stop. The X-SELF, another new product introduced by XENTA for the 2022 season, makes a decisive contribution to offering an unmatched and unprecedented maneuvering experience. X-SELF is XENTA’s autonomous docking system, capable of bringing a boat in and out of its mooring place, without any human intervention. It is able to do this in complete safety, with incredible precision, simply by activating the system on the XENTA interface with the screens on board. Available in combination with X-DOCK and X-AID, X-SELF is what can bring a yacht closer to the concept of “autonomous boat 4.0”: the boat of the future, “intelligent”, the one able to act autonomously on the steering system, leaving the captain to intervene, if and when he considers it necessary, to modify the maneuver. An innovative system that makes navigation easier, safer and more fun, constantly at the side of whoever is in command of the boat.
